Land of Hope

Land of Hope is a short film about some truly amazing salmon fishing located at the very north of Scotland. Located in the shadow of Ben Hope, the short River Hope is fed from the iconic Loch Hope for its short distance to the sea. Regulated by the tidal cycle, the river is constantly changing in its flow and form and the key to success is to keep mobile with the lifting and falling water levels.

I was joined on the trip by my main fishing/filming partners Will and Al Peake from Twin Peakes Fly Fishing. The twin brothers are both ghillies on the River Dee, as well as excellent company and seriously good fly fishers. Within minutes of starting out first session on the river, we seen fresh fishing bolting in from the tide into the lower pools of the system.
